God has a gift for you.
That’s right. Beginning a relationship with God is as simple as deciding to accept His free gift. But this is a very important decision, and we want to make sure you understand it clearly.
First, you must recognize that you are a sinner. You might be a “good” person, but even good people have sin in their lives. Whether it’s selfishness, lying, greed, cheating or simply not doing the things we know are right, the Bible tells us that everyone has sinned. “For all have sinned and fall short or the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).
Next, you need to understand that you can’t get to heaven or restore your relationship with God just by doing good works. Jesus, God’s own Son, says that we must be perfect, “just as your Father (God) in heaven is perfect” (Matthew 5:48). Of course, no one can live up to that, because no matter how hard we try, we miss that mark of perfection. Your sin separates you from a holy God.
The good news is, Jesus has made a way for you to get to heaven, and all you need to do is accept the gift of what He did for you on the cross. You accept that gift by placing your trust in God’s only Son, Jesus Christ. The Bible tells us to “believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved” (Acts 16:31).
You need to place your faith in Jesus Christ and believe that He died for you and paid the penalty for your sins. It is only by His sacrifice that you can be made right with God and have eternal life in heaven.
If you would like to make that decision, you can pray right now. Praying is just talking to God and you can do it silently or out loud. Here is a prayer that you can say.
I believe that You are the Son of the Living God and that You died on the cross for my sins and rose again. I recognize I am a sinner and now I receive your Grace and forgiveness. Forgive me for my pride. I want to surrender my life to your control. Please be my Lord and my God. I accept Your gift of Salvation and I pray that as I begin this relationship with You, that You would help me turn away from my old ways of living. I want to follow You. Help me to honor you in all I do, think, and say. Please guide me and give me new friends to encourage me on my spiritual journey and enable me to gather with other believers as often as I can. Thank you for hearing my prayer, I love you Lord. Amen.
If you have repented of your sins and placed your trust in Jesus Christ as your Savior, then you are now a child of God.
Now that you are beginning an new journey with God, begin to talk to Him each day and, if possible, get a Bible that you can read. Also, we would love to hear about the decision you made, so please send us a note right now so we can pray for you and celebrate your decision.
We are excited to welcome you to the family of God!
